Bio Born in Valencia, 1976. Esperanza Collado is an interdisciplinary artist and curator. In both practices she tends to experiment with new and challenging exhibition formats, focusing on notions of process, the body, materiality, and the folds of representation. She created the international avant-garde art event Márgenes: Experimento y Praxis (Dublin 08 & Madrid 09) and is a co-founder programmer of the Experimental Film Club in Dublin, the first regular forum for artistic and often neglected cinematic works. Research is an essential part of her work, which mainly but not exclusively focuses on artistic manifestations of cinema outside the standard medium of film. Her PhD., completed in 2008 at the Fine Arts College of Cuenca (Universidad de Castilla La Mancha), is the result of some of the research around the dematerialization of film or Paracinema, which has been expanded with post-doctoral studies in New York around Deleuzian notions of the body and interruption in relation to avant-garde practices. Tightly linked to this is the ephemeral art event 'Cinema… Corpus Vs Cerebrum' (funded in 2009 by the Arts Council of Ireland and presented at Filmbase Dublin in 2010 with Victor Esther G., Maximilian Le Cain, and Rafael Martínez del Pozo), as well as the on-going project in collaboration with Le Cain Operation Rewrite (funded by MUSAC Museum of Contemporary Art in 2011). |
